Party at the Brown's

I think as the summer goes, we get busier and busier! Hopefully that will be dying down soon but I doubt it! I guess that's what happens when we typically have busy summers and now we add a little one to the mix.

Lyla just got baptised on August 8th. It was a hot, muggy day so we ended up with everyone inside for lunch. We don't have a big house so everyone was pretty close and comfy! Thank you for everyone that came. It made the day very special. Lyla was great during the whole ceremony. She made cute noices and entertained everyone the whole time. She was the star of the show!

Lyla's christening gown came from their wedding dress. My Aunt Phyllis and mom made the dress and Lyla was the second one to wear it. It's a beautiful dress and I'm so glad Lyla was able to wear it!

Then on Sunday, August 9th my mom and I threw my cousin Jody her baby shower. Anne Heather was born in June and we decided to throw her shower after she was born so everyone could meet her. We had a great turn out and it was a good time! I was so happy to finally meet Anne as well.

After our busy weekend, Matt and I (along with Lyla) looked at a house for the 2nd time. We were not necessarily looking to move but Matt came across it and we had to go see it. We fell in love with it and decided to extend an offer. They countered and we accepted on Friday! Now everything is contingent on us selling our house so we have to wait patiently and hope someone is interested. We have 90 days so cross your fingers for us! Now on top of our day-to-day activities, we have to get our house ready for showings. I hope we are as lucky as my friends Holly and Brian in IN. They had 2 people look at their house and the first person bought it. I know I'm not that luckly but one can hope!

Lyla is AMAZING!

So of course Matt and I are partial to our little one but we just love Lyla to pieces! She continues to amaze us every day and still can't seem to get enough of her. Hopefully that will never change!

In the last blog I stated that Lyla rolled over for a week straight and then hasn't done it since. I've been playing with her a lot on the floor and trying to show her how to roll over. Well this weekend she has been rolling over a lot for Matt and I. Right when I put her on her belly, she rolls over and gets a big smile on her face. Sometimes she waits a while and then rolls over. Of course sometimes I'm not paying attention and all of a sudden she has flipped over. I guess being able to leave the room for a second isn't going to happen for too much longer! We will have to keep our eyes on this little one! I look around the house and see that baby proofing the house will not be much fun!

Lyla is now 4 months old as well! We have her doctor's appointment in a couple weeks so I will update you on how big she has gotten. This week I also celebrated a birthday. I'm now the big 28 and getting closer and closer to 30 everyday. Matt likes to make fun of me since he is 4 months younger.

Other than that we have been keeping busy with many projects around the house. Matt's list keeps growing and growing every weekend. Maybe one of these weekends we will get out camping for Lyla's first camping trip! We will see since summer is flying by!

I hope you enjoy the new pics!

Kristi gave this onesie to Lyla for me to take her picture in it at 3-6-9-12 months. I forgot about it so she's sporting this at 4 months!

We're Here!

Sorry for my delay in updating my post. Going back to work has definitely affected my time to get things done during the week! Pretty much our schedule now is getting home at 6:30 p.m., feeding Lyla (which typically takes 45-60 minutes), eating dinner and then starting Lyla's bedtime routine at 8:30 p.m. Then back up at 5:00 a.m. to start the next day! By Friday Matt and I are quite tired! I definitely cannot complain though b/c Lyla is still sleeping through the night which allows mom and dad around 7 hours of sleep!

Matt had a great first Father's Day. Lyla decided she couldn't be the only one with a Brewer's jersey so we let dad pick out his very own. We will have to go to another Brewer's game soon!

Lyla sporting her Brewer's outfit on Daddy's day!

Lyla is now 3 1/2 months old! Time contines to fly by and Lyla continues to grow! She is already starting to outgrow her 3-6 month pj's b/c she is getting so long! Luckily a lot of her 3 month clothes are still fitting her so I haven't had to pack those away yet.

Lyla has now started to roll over. On June 21st was the first time she rolled over by herself. I put her down for a nap on her back on the floor b/c I was washing her sheets. I checked on her and she was on her side. I moved her to her back and 15 minutes later she was back on her side. I decided to leave her and 30 minutes later she was on her tummy turned the other direction! The next day at her babysitters she rolled over from her back to her tummy and her tummy to her back! She hasn't rolled over a lot recently but I'm assuming that will change soon.

The pictures below I had to just compare what Lyla looked like a couple days old compared to over 3 months old! She was such a little peanut.

It's amazing how much Lyla has changed in just a few weeks. I love picking her up from her babysitter everyday to see a big smile on her face! She still talks a lot to us and it's so touching for Matt and I that she recognizes us! I know there will be more exciting things to come!

That's really it from us so far! I hope you enjoy the updated pictures!

Lyla's First Vacation

We made it to Virginia and back for Lyla's first vacation! We decided to drive out instead of fly since we had so much stuff to bring. Lyla was a trooper and did great in the car for the 12+ hour trip. So it's supposed to take 12 hours but it takes us practically 2 days to get there and the same back! Having Lyla on a 3-3 1/2 hour schedule means lots of stopping to feed and change diapers. We had 2 blowouts on the way out but nothing the rest of the trip! What a good baby!
The first event was Brett's and Megan's wedding. Lyla didn't make a peep during the whole ceremony! Lyla got to do the $1 dollar dance with Uncle Brett to polka music. She patiently held her dollar and waited her turn for the special dance. Of course mom had to miss it! Brett and Megan had a beautiful wedding and I'm so glad I now have a sister!

We then toured Washington DC for a couple of days. We saw the Arlington Ceremony, Lincoln, Korean War, Vietnam, WWII, and Washington Memorials, White House, and US Capital. We also toured the Natural History and Air and Space Smithsonian's. Everything was just amazing! It's nice to now say we have seen a lot of DC but there is definitely a lot more to do! We will have to make another trip out when Lyla is older.

We also made a trip out to Mt Vernon for the day to see George Washington's estate. On the way back home we stopped at Gettysburg to see the battlefields and brush up on even more history! We couldn't spend a lot of time there either so that will be another stop in the future. We stayed overnight in Cleveland, OH and decided to see the city before heading home. We saw the Rock 'n Roll Hall of fame which Lyla had to rock out her sunglasses for. We also saw Lake Erie. Too bad we couldn't get close enough to dip Lyla's toes in so she could say she was in Lake Erie! So all in all, we had a great vacation and saw a lot. Don't worry, I took a lot of pictures so Lyla can remember what we did!

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday to all! We will have another busy week getting ready to head to Virgina for my brother's wedding. I've already started to pack and make a list of things to remember. We will see how many trips to the store we will need to do while we are gone!

Tomorrow we have an appointment with the UW Children's Hospital checking up on Lyla's heart murmur. At her 2 month appointment our doctor still heard it. Tomorrow we will see if it is something to worry about or if we just need to keep an eye on it.

For my brother's wedding, I picked up 2 dresses for Lyla that I couldn't pick between. I had her try them on (or should I say I put them on her) and took pictures. The picture above shows the dress she picked out. The picture below shows the dress she didn't like. I guess that was a easy pick for me! She has been having blow outs lately so now I'm second guessing taking the other dress back! Let's cross our fingers she makes it through the day! Last weekend we were going to Matt's cousin's graduation party and we had to change her outfit before we even stepped in the door! Cross your fingers for us!

Have a great couple of weeks!

Busy Brown's

It's been a busy week for the Brown household (at least momma is busy)! Working in the yard weeding and planting flowers, shopping, cleaning, going to a Brewers game and etc makes the days go by fast. I also took a lot of pictures since the last blog so enjoy!

My best friend Kristi came up last weekend to see how much Lyla has changed. The first picture shows Lyla just 4 days old and the second was at 2 months. What a difference! Lyla had fun shopping with the girls but only got a hat out of the deal! I guess I can get away with that now before she starts taking toys off the shelves!

Getting ready to shop with the girls!

On Memorial Day we went to the Brewers game with a few friends. This was Lyla's first sporting event! Lyla sported a pink outfit b/c we didn't have a Brewer outfit yet. Uncle Mike and Nikki got her a pink Brewer's outfit at the game so this means we will have to go to more Brewers games this year! Matt also had to get a shirt at the game. No the Brewers didn't play the Cubs that day but Matt did get a lot of compliments. Sorry Cubs fans!

Lyla had her 2 month checkup today. That means 3 shots too! Of course she cried and then made mom shed a few tears. I've never seen her in pain so of course it makes me feel bad! Now I know what my mom went through when I was a baby. Lyla has been a little crabby today which is understandable so there will be a lot of cuddling going on! Lyla is now 11 lbs 13 oz and 23 inches long. She is in the 75% for both weight and length so she is right on track.

Fell asleep during tummy time once again! How sweet.

Ella laying with Lyla. I can't believe how long Lyla looks! I think she is growing out of her PJ's daily!

I have more projects to accomplish before dinner. Have a great week!

2 months old!

Lyla is 2 months old today! She is getting to be a big girl. Okay I know we have a lot of time before she grows up but she is truly growing a lot lately. I have already put away a few clothes that she doesn't fit into anymore (unless I want her legs to be scrunched up). She will never wear those clothes again! It's crazy how fast they grow.

Today we went into Madison to have lunch with one of my coworkers and to do a little shopping. All of my coworkers have noticed how much bigger Lyla looks from last time I was in (when she was only 2 weeks old). It makes me sad to think she will never be that small again! But of course I'm excited for all the fun and interesting things to come.

Lyla has been smiling more and more at mom and dad lately. Yesterday she had a big smile on her face when dad came home and had another when they were cuddling. She was smiling up a storm this morning so I had to videotape her. Someday I put videos on the blog. I will just have to make them shorter! I think mom enjoys it too much!

Last night we met up with 2 of my college friends for dinner (pictured below). Mandy brought her son Jonathan that will be 6 months soon and Dana just moved back to WI from Hawaii. It's nice to have friends that live close by!

We are looking forward to a great week to be outside! Maybe I will even get a tan. For those of you who know how I tan, good luck to me!
