Enjoying the summer

I've been enjoying my time off from work, playing with the girls. Last week we went to the Baraboo zoo and park and Lyla had a great time. She loved seeing some of the animals and then playing in the park. She loved riding the horses the best!

Hayden slept the whole time

This week my mom met me and we went to the Children's Museum for the day. We ended up being there for over 5 hours! Lyla loved painting on the glass and cleaning it up. Hayden, again, slept the whole day!

With Matt heading out to Canada for a fishing trip, I'm getting plans together to have a busy Labor Day weekend with the girls. Let's hope the weather holds out so we can enjoy the outdoors.

Mike and Nikki's Wedding

Last weekend was Mike and Nikki's wedding. It was a beautiful weekend and we had a blast. As you probably remember from older posts, Lyla was the flower girl for their wedding and Matt was the best man. Lyla did such a wonderful job and I couldn't ask for a better performance from her. She walked down the aisle with daddy and was taking in all the attention she got. She danced the night away with her Dora sandals that light up until 9:45 p.m. that night (which she only took a 5 minute nap that day too)! We are so thrilled to have Nikki apart of the Brown family and that Mike found his better half! We love you. Hayden also did an amazing job with the help from my mom watching her throughout the weekend. I couldn't have done it without her!

Lyla wore the same dress at my brothers wedding in June 2009. I had to include what Lyla looked like at 2 1/2 months compared to Hayden at 5 weeks old.

Off to the fair we went

A couple weekends ago we went to the fair by my parents and Lyla had a blast. We went into all the barns to see the animals, went to the petting zoo and Lyla rode the ponies with grandpa(which was her favorite part). She talked about seeing the animals and would tell me what animals she wanted to see next but everytime we went into the barns, she told me she was scared and wanted to go! Maybe daddy needed to be around for the animal tour.

Last weekend we had our friends over along with their kids Jonathan and Hailee for a play date. Jonathan is just over 3 months older than Lyla and Hailee is 7 weeks older than Hayden. It's so nice to have close friends in the area that have kids our age so we can get together for some adult time and the kids can have fun as well.

Lyla and Jonathan were shy at first but once they got comfortable they had a blast chasing and reading to each other. They did a great job showing us all the animal noises they knew and I made sure to get that on video tape for future viewings when they are older!

Even though they are 7 weeks apart, they are almost the same size!

Hayden graduated to sleeping in her crib this week. She only cries in the middle of the night when it's feeding time but she grunts a lot in her sleep and has been keeping Matt and I up a lot. We decided it was time to move her to her room and just introduced the nuk to her a couple days ago. The first night she slept great in her crib but the second night she didn't settle in very well so I put her in her car seat for part of the night. I think if she can keep her nuk in her mouth longer than a couple minutes, she will do great.


We are off to the fair this weekend. Lyla is excited to see all the animals and ride the ponies. I'm excited for fair food!
