Where's Lyla?

Everything is still going great in the Brown household. Lyla is still sleeping great and is still following her schedule pretty well (unless her mom messes it up by going shopping and such)! I've been able to take Lyla and Ella out for walks around town when it's nice out. Lyla ends up sleeping the whole time but at least her mom and sister Ella love it! I just dread making it up the hill to our house at the end! I guess it's a good workout!

So I continue to wake up in the middle of the night thinking Lyla is in bed with us. I keep patting Matt thinking she is sleeping on him. I don't know why I think she is in bed with us since I'm typically the last one to put her to bed at night and she has never slept in bed with us! A few times I've scared Matt and myself and we end up getting up to make sure she is in her crib! I know this is not the last time we will be getting nervous over something regarding her!

And by the way, I did great for Matt's and my day out without Lyla for our anniversary celebration. We went shopping and out to dinner and was gone for around 6 hours! Grandma and Grandpa Brown loved watching her and Lyla loved it too (she told me).

That's it for now. Enjoy the updated pictures of Lyla!

Happy Anniversary!

Today is Matt's and my 4 year wedding anniversary! Last week we celebrated being together for 8 years as well! 8 years have already gone by and we have many, many more to go! I'm so glad I found my perfect person to spend my life with.

We plan on going out to dinner on Saturday while Grandma and Grandpa Brown watch Lyla. This will be the first time I will be away from Lyla for more than a couple minutes! We will see how I do!

Yesterday my parents came up to see Lyla and I suppose myself as well. We went to Baraboo so my mom could find a dress for Brett's and Megan's wedding in June. While the girls were shopping, my dad and Ella went for a hike at Devil's Lake. I kept everyone occupied! Lyla slept the whole time and my mom found a great dress! Even my dad and Ella were tired after their long hike.

That's it from me! And Lyla is doing great!

1 month old and counting

Lyla Marie is 1 month old today! I think every post I say that I'm always amazed how fast time has flown by. She's been in our life for only 1 month! Crazy to think.

It's exciting to see how Lyla has been changing over the weeks. When she is awake, she really looks at you when you are holding her and seems amazed. She likes to make funny faces at Matt and of course he makes them right back. She is still bright eyed and bushy tailed starting around 7:00 p.m. until bedtime. At least it's good that Matt can see her awake after being at work all day. And an amazing advancement is Lyla is sleeping in her crib all night! Sometimes we have to give her a pacifier to calm her down right away but otherwise she is sleeping great. I'm so glad it didn't take long to get her adjusted. We will just have to wait and see how she does in the pack n' play when we are away from home! Maybe the car seat will be slept in again!

That's all the updates for now. Here are some more fun pictures of Lyla!

A 3 week old and 4 year old

Not only do we have a 3 week old today, our first baby turned 4 years old last Saturday! As you can see, Ella is still pretty spoiled and we wanted to make sure she had a great birthday. Dad bought her a new toy, she got to help dad in the yard and she even got to play with "the girls" Molly and Bailey all on her birthday. Molly and Bailey are grandma and grandpa's golden retrievers that Ella is now friends with. Ella was surely ready for bed by Saturday night!

Lyla is still a mover and shaker. She has been doing pretty good staying on a schedule during the day and hasn't been too bad sleeping at night. She even slept half the night in her crib last night! Hopefully we can continue to put her in her crib without much of a fuss. We will see what happens!

We just introduced the pacifier to Lyla this week as well. She has her fussy time right around 8:00 p.m. until bedtime. She sometimes finds her thumb or hand to soothe her but that only lasts a couple minutes. Hopefully this will continue to be effective so I'm not feeding her for 2 hours straight! I had to include a picture of Lyla right when she was born sucking her thumb and one we took a couple days ago. We thought right away she was always going to suck her thumb but she hardly finds it anymore.

Well I gotta go and feed Lyla before she gets cranky. Here are a few more updated pictures!

Already 2 weeks old!

Lyla is now 2 weeks and 2 days old today! I feel I don't know life without her already. Crazy to think 2 weeks have gone by. I know the rest of my time off will go by way to quickly!

I now truly feel like a mom. After feeding Lyla for the 2nd time in the doctors office on Tuesday, I got spit up all the way down the front of me. I have been good and always caught it before it got all over me but this time it didn't work that way. I knew that would happen sooner than later! Hooray for mommy hood! I will never be clean again!

I have had a busy week so far. My mom came to visit since Monday and left this afternoon. She was great help in keeping Lyla awake during her "wake time" and watching her so I could get some naps in. Ella is surely going to miss having all of that attention during the day. My mom sewed all of Ella's babies and now we have stuffed animals spread throughout the whole house!

We made a trip in to my office and Matt's office on Wednesday for everyone to meet Lyla for the first time. She did great and slept most of the time before getting crabby when it was feeding time. I can't believe how long it takes to get ready and Lyla ready to go anywhere. I don't think I will ever be on time again!

More Lyla updates. Lyla had her 2 week doctors appointment on Tuesday. Our doctor heard a heart murmur and we needed to schedule an Echo (ultrasound) at the UW Children's Hospital to find out more. No parents want to hear this news and with Matt having heart disease as a child and his family having other heart problems, it made me even more nervous. We ended up getting in at UW that afternoon which is great that we didn't need to dwell on this for a couple days. It ends up that Lyla has a mild heart murmur that will need to continue to be watched. Her next appointment is in 2 months and we will find out more if it has gotten worse or stayed the same. We will just hope and pray nothing comes of this and she continues to be healthy. She already weighs 8 lbs and 11 oz (1/2 pound more than birth) so that is definitely a good sign she is doing well.

Here are some new pictures of Lyla.
