Busy Brown's

It's been a busy week for the Brown household (at least momma is busy)! Working in the yard weeding and planting flowers, shopping, cleaning, going to a Brewers game and etc makes the days go by fast. I also took a lot of pictures since the last blog so enjoy!

My best friend Kristi came up last weekend to see how much Lyla has changed. The first picture shows Lyla just 4 days old and the second was at 2 months. What a difference! Lyla had fun shopping with the girls but only got a hat out of the deal! I guess I can get away with that now before she starts taking toys off the shelves!

Getting ready to shop with the girls!

On Memorial Day we went to the Brewers game with a few friends. This was Lyla's first sporting event! Lyla sported a pink outfit b/c we didn't have a Brewer outfit yet. Uncle Mike and Nikki got her a pink Brewer's outfit at the game so this means we will have to go to more Brewers games this year! Matt also had to get a shirt at the game. No the Brewers didn't play the Cubs that day but Matt did get a lot of compliments. Sorry Cubs fans!

Lyla tailgating with her fun sunglasses!

Lyla had her 2 month checkup today. That means 3 shots too! Of course she cried and then made mom shed a few tears. I've never seen her in pain so of course it makes me feel bad! Now I know what my mom went through when I was a baby. Lyla has been a little crabby today which is understandable so there will be a lot of cuddling going on! Lyla is now 11 lbs 13 oz and 23 inches long. She is in the 75% for both weight and length so she is right on track.

Fell asleep during tummy time once again! How sweet.

Ella laying with Lyla. I can't believe how long Lyla looks! I think she is growing out of her PJ's daily!

Making faces on dad's lap once again!

I can hold my head up high mom!

I have more projects to accomplish before dinner. Have a great week!

2 months old!

Lyla is 2 months old today! She is getting to be a big girl. Okay I know we have a lot of time before she grows up but she is truly growing a lot lately. I have already put away a few clothes that she doesn't fit into anymore (unless I want her legs to be scrunched up). She will never wear those clothes again! It's crazy how fast they grow.

Today we went into Madison to have lunch with one of my coworkers and to do a little shopping. All of my coworkers have noticed how much bigger Lyla looks from last time I was in (when she was only 2 weeks old). It makes me sad to think she will never be that small again! But of course I'm excited for all the fun and interesting things to come.

Lyla has been smiling more and more at mom and dad lately. Yesterday she had a big smile on her face when dad came home and had another when they were cuddling. She was smiling up a storm this morning so I had to videotape her. Someday I put videos on the blog. I will just have to make them shorter! I think mom enjoys it too much!

Last night we met up with 2 of my college friends for dinner (pictured below). Mandy brought her son Jonathan that will be 6 months soon and Dana just moved back to WI from Hawaii. It's nice to have friends that live close by!

Lyla and Momma all dressed in purple

We are looking forward to a great week to be outside! Maybe I will even get a tan. For those of you who know how I tan, good luck to me!

First Mother's Day

I had a wonderful first Mother's Day! We were in IL visiting friends and family since my brother and Megan were in town. On Sunday, I received the best present of all. My mom was holding Lyla and I disappeared for a while. When I came back, I said hi to Lyla and she looked at me and gave me the biggest, toothless smile I have ever seen! It was so touching that she gave me the best present of all for Mother's Day!

Above is a picture of Lyla making her funny faces at dad! I get a smile and dad gets a funny stare.

Lyla got to meet her godparents Brett and Megan for the first time this weekend. They will be seeing her more through web cam since they live out in Colorado so these times together are priceless.

Lyla got to meet her boyfriend Clay for the first time as well! This is my friend's Holly and Brian's son that is almost 1 year old. Holly and I have wanted to be sisters for a long time so now we have chance to be family! No big rush!

Grandma Knox and Grandma Rex meeting Lyla for the first time!

Rex family: my godmother and Aunt Barb, cousin Kerby, Aunt Phyllis and my mom all with Lyla

Lyla has still been doing great! Last night was the first time she slept through the night! I didn't want to get her off schedule since we were away from home this weekend with a house full of people so I didn't start until last night. I didn't set my alarm to wake her for her middle of the night feeding and she didn't wake me up until 5:30 a.m. this morning. I was quite pleased since she is just 7 weeks old today! We will see how she does tonight!

A Star is Born!

Can you see it now? The famous Lyla Marie Brown! I just had to add these new pictures from over the weekend. My parents came up to see Lyla and help with some yard work. What a great help! I hope to be out a couple times this week so I can stay ahead of the weeds. We will see how long I keep this up before I give up!

Since everyone was working outside, I had to bring Lyla out to help the family. Of course it was a sunny day so she had to sport her new sunglasses. I thought these were priceless! Matt added that these could be Elton John glasses. Crazy thing is we are going to a Elton John and Billy Joel concert this week! Lyla is just getting us ready!

I'm excited to come home to IL this weekend for Megan's wedding shower (my brother's fiance) and to introduce Lyla to the rest of the fam! I will have to get my cuddle time in this week since I probably won't be holding her too much this weekend!
Have a great week!
